Loopy Programmer
The Game
You've spent almost 96 hours programming your game for the game jam. After a quick snack break, all you have to do is upload your masterpiece. But one difficulty follows another and you have to fight against monsters such as bugs or crippling anxiety. There's one thing your enemies didn't count on: you're so in the flow that you have plenty of firepower with a few shortcuts. And you're willing to sacrifice everything for your success at the game jam ...
This game combines nerdy interests with tactical card play, inspired by Slay the Spire. You play as a blue-footed booby – because why not? ;) Use cards to write code to defeat all the monsters that stand in your way. The cards explain how best to use them. Drag the cards into the text editor to create code that damages your opponent.
Can you defeat the monsters and upload your game?
How does the game fit in with the prompt loops?
The code contains loops, that can contain loops... So the challenge is to build a tactically clever sequence of code.
And with so many problems, even programmers can quickly go loopy...
Who made the game?
We developed the game together. Boyfriend Luka took care of the programming and girlfriend Loy did the artwork, sounds & creative work (Insta: loydscherversprecher https://www.instagram.com/loydscherversprecher?igsh=dHQzNGNlMm5rZmZ2)
Some (licensed) sounds by Ovani & Monument Studios were used.
